The Press Release -
DOVER – Standing on a record of protecting the public and serving the community, Dover Rep. Brad Bennett filed for re-election for the 32nd District on Tuesday.

Rep. Bennett, a Democrat, was first elected to represent south Dover in 2008, defeating a seven-term incumbent. In his first term in office, Rep. Bennett has written, sponsored and passed several significant pieces of legislation, including measures to enhance penalties for sex offenders, saving Kent County taxpayers thousands of dollars annually and protecting emergency personnel who are responding to accidents.

In addition to his legislative accomplishments, Rep. Bennett has worked directly with residents throughout the 32nd District to address community issues, such as cleaning up the Puncheon Run to address residential flooding and providing a safe and clean area for children to play in Capitol Park.

“I learned at an early age from my father the importance of public service,” said Rep. Bennett, whose late father, Ed Bennett, served in the House of Representatives for 18 years. “I have made it my focus to protect the public by ensuring those who commit serious crimes receive justice. I also am proud we have been able to introduce and pass legislation that will save county taxpayers money and make government smaller and more efficient.

“There still is much work to be done, and I am asking the residents of the 32nd District to give me the opportunity to continue serving the community.”

Rep. Bennett is a lifelong resident of the 32nd District who lives in Dover with his wife Samantha and two children.
