The Issues

EDUCATION

My wife is a public school teacher in the Capital School District, so I get to hear firsthand about the many challenges facing today’s public schools.

My commitment to the public schools extends to my own children who attend Allen Frear Elementary and F. Niel Postlethwait Middle School.

I have also been looking at the VISION 2015 Educational Study and like what I see so far. It addresses:

• Investing in early childhood education.
• Reduced class size.
• Bonuses for schools that improve in student achievement.
• Funding for schools based on the needs of the students.

I also support teacher recruitment incentives to make sure we get the most qualified teachers available.
